If you’re an active Instagram user, sooner or later you’re going to run into some issues. While the Android and iOS apps are mostly stable, we’ve received many reports of problems with Instagram. Some users claim that Instagram still doesn’t allow images to be uploaded.
This is a common (and important) problem, so we have made sure to provide you with appropriate solutions. Follow the instructions carefully and the problem should be solved as soon as possible.

Why doesn’t Instagram open on my phone?
There are many reasons why Instagram may not load on your smartphone or tablet. These could be global problems (which has happened before), connection problems, or a full cache causing corruption.
Whatever the reason, we have a list of solutions for you. Do not hesitate to consult them to solve the problem you are experiencing.
Every active Instagram user remembers the big global outage that happened a few months ago. We have not seen an outage of this magnitude recently, but server problems are not uncommon.
You can check out the Instagram status on Instagram’s official Twitter handle, here, or on DownDetector, here.
An unstable connection is a common reason why Instagram doesn’t load, and it’s especially noticeable on Instagram Direct when sending media or messages. For everything to work, you need a stable Wi-Fi or mobile data connection.
A slow mobile data transfer is nothing. And as far as wireless connections go, it’s not the slow bandwidth that’s the problem, it’s the frequent disconnections. Instagram will not load under these circumstances.
Here’s what you can do to resolve any connection issues with your device:
- Turn Wi-Fi off and on.
- Restart the device and the router/modem.
- Activate Airplane Mode and deactivate it again after about a minute.
- Reset network settings.
- For more solutions, see our articles on Wi-Fi and data issues on Android.
Social media apps, especially Instagram and Facebook, tend to collect data at a breakneck pace. The goal is to speed up the loading time. But once the data and the cache reach a certain point, it becomes counterproductive.
Therefore, we strongly recommend that you clear your data and cache before proceeding with other steps. Follow these instructions to clear your Instagram cache and data:
- Open the settings.
- Select Apps.
- Go to Instagram.
- Choose Memory.
- Clear the cache.
- Now delete the data and restart the unit.
If the string does not load, we can assume that the problem is not with the permissions. But if you’re having trouble with other aspects of Instagram, like. B. with gallery access or location tags, we recommend that you check the access rights, as there is no harm in doing so.
This is how you make sure Instagram has all the permissions you need:
- Open the settings.
- Select Applications (Application Manager or Application Control).
- Open Instagram in the list.
- Select Permissions.
- Make sure Instagram has all the permissions you need. Location detection is optional, so if you don’t want Instagram to determine your location, you don’t have to.
If you signed up for Instagram Beta and are still experiencing issues with Instagram, we recommend you stop. To be fair, you won’t see any minor new features, but it’s not worth trading stability for some fancy cosmetic features.
Find out how to exit Instagram’s beta in the Play Store here:
- Outdoor toys store.
- Search on Instagram.
- Scroll down the page and click Exit under the You are a Beta Tester section.
- Wait until you are excluded from the beta program and update the application.
- Restart the device and try to connect again.
Finally, you can try to reinstall the application. If Instagram still doesn’t load after that, report the problem here. But before we point out a problem, let’s reinstall the application and see if there are any improvements.
Follow these instructions to reinstall Instagram on Android:
- Open the Play Store and search for Instagram.
- Click on Delete.
- Restart the device and return to the Play Store.
- Reinstall Instagram.
If you still can’t access it, you should temporarily switch to Instagram’s web client here.
I think that’s it. Thanks for reading and if Instagram doesn’t load after following the above steps, please send us a message in the comment box below. Maybe we have other ways of dealing with the problem.
